His parents were Bennett Belieu and Sarah Israel Belieu. Micajah was the father of several children. His first wife, Rebecca Renfro, died in Knox Co. TN about 1830 and he remarried a year later to Polly Brooks in that same county. After some time in TN, the family moved on to MO, having been on the Nodaway Co. MO census of 1850.

In 1860, Mrs. Belieu purchased a large coffin from C.C. Sager, and Mr. Belieu's name never appeared on the store ledger again. He was originally interred in the Ingersoll Cemetery near Prairie Creek, where Hannah, his daughter, was originally buried. They were re-interred in the new Paces Chapel Cemetery near Garfield by the Corps of Engineers in 1958/59. Micajah didn't have a tombstone standing and he is one of the unknowns in the Paces Cemetery.
