She is the eldest child of William Welch and his wife Rebecca Kester. She married Daniel McDaniel Stark, son of Abraham and Sarah (Stark) Stark, on March 31, 1831 in Vigo County. They had at least seven children together, Emeline, William, Simon, Rebecca Ann, Sarah Jane, Steven Beaman, and Eunice Ann.
