Son of Frank Asbury Garrett Bennett and Sarah J. Guill. In Dec. 1893 he married Carlena Josephine "Lena" Yenney, and they were the parents of eight children.

Obituary from West Plains Daily Quill:
Charles Asbury Bennett, 75, died at his home on East Olden street at 9:30 o'clock Sunday morning, following a long illness from a complication of diseases. He had been in frail health the last two years and had been confined to his bed the last nine months.

Born in Wingo, Kentucky, April 28, 1873, Mr. Bennett came with his parents to Howell County 65 years ago and had since made his home in the county. He resided in Peace Valley until five years ago, when he retired from farm life and he and his wife moved to West Plains.

Bennett's parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bennett, were among the prominent pioneer settlers of the Peace Valley community, and his father founded Bennett's Chapel, the Methodist church near Peace Valley, of which Charles A. Bennett was for many years an active member.

Always a leader in church, farming and other community activities, Charles A. Bennett had many friends both at Peace Valley and in West Plains.

He was married December 1, 1893 to Miss Lena Yenney, also of the Peace Valley community who survives him.

Besides Mrs. Bennett, other survivors are two sons, Guy Bennett of Pittsburg, Kansas, O.D. Bennett of Willow Springs; five daughters, Mrs. Adam Gilliam, Mrs. Myrtle Jackson, Mrs. Ray W. Penrod, Mrs. John Stein and Mrs. Marie Eldringhoff, all of West Plains; one half brother, Marvin Bennett of Sandy, Oregon, 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
