York, Marjorie Lee was born October 7, 1933, in Nazareth, PA to Earl and Margaret Phillips.

Her father was the neighborhood butcher, and her mother worked in a sewing mill.

Marge graduated from Nazareth High School in 1951, and Kutztown State College in 1954 at age 20 with a Bachelor of Education.

She began teaching in Summerfield, NJ, and then in Easton, PA.

She went on to Penn State for her Masters's and was hired as a visiting instructor.

While at State College she met former Marine, Lynn Henry of Seven Valleys, whom she married in December 1957 in the Eisenhower Chapel on the Penn State campus.

Marge often joked that she thought she was going to be Mrs. Lynn Henry, but when she saw the marriage certificate she found out she was going to be Mrs. Paul Lynn Henry, or really Mrs. P. Lynn Henry.

Marge and Lynn began their life together in York where she taught fourth grade in the York City Schools until 1960, when her daughter, Jill Lynne, was born. A son, Scott Lee, followed in 1962.

After the children were in school she returned to York City, teaching 5th grade, art, and remedial math until her retirement in 1991.

A woman of high principles, Marge always encouraged her students to rise to standards beyond their expectations.

With Lynn retired from the Dallastown Area School District, he and Marge traveled all over the U.S., the Caribbean, and Europe.

A highly skilled craftsperson, Marge loved sewing best of all, but also enjoyed knitting, macramé, basket weaving, ceramics, and any new craft that came along. In addition to all those things, she also really loved hats, and was rarely seen without one!

Naturally, she was an active member of the Red Hat Society.

Her other community and social outlets included the Bon Air Country Club and the Dallastown Business & Professional Women organization.

She also enjoyed Curves, where she formed many lasting friendships.

Never one to resist a challenge, Marge began harp lessons at age 79 as a nice stay-at-home hobby.

She celebrated her 80th birthday in Albuquerque on her first hot air balloon ride.

During the summer months, and especially this past winter, she became an enthusiastic backyard birder as a new favorite stay-at-home hobby.

Having eight beautiful bluebirds come to visit this past winter was especially exciting. Hummingbirds were her particular favorite, and she regularly filled multiple feeders outside her kitchen window.

Marge is survived by P. Lynn, her husband of 59 years; her daughter, Jill L. Errickson and husband, David of Dallastown; and her son, Scott L. Henry of Washington DC.

She has two granddaughters, Alexis Prego and Libby Errickson. Marge's younger sister, Mrs. Virginia Alpaugh, resides with her husband, Nelson, in Shrewsbury.

She also had many nieces and nephews all around the York area, whose achievements were always a matter of pride to her.

In recent years, she became attached to her loving grand-dog, Penny the Border Collie.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at 4:30 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, 126 W. Main Street in Dallastown, where Marge was a member for many years.

A harp prelude by Marge's harp teacher will begin 15 minutes before the service.

Friends and family are invited to enjoy the music that she loved so well. Memories will be shared in the church hall following the service.

Private interment will be held at a later time. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, Marge requested that donations in her name be made to the York Cancer Center Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Rd, Suite 194, York, PA 17403.
