Mrs. Crystal Delene Phelps-Murray was born August 21, 1964 to Rev. Annie R. Duck and the late Colie L. Phelps. She departed this life on August 3, 2014.

In addition to her father, she was recently preceded in death by her devoted grandmother, Mrs. Rosa Rice (Wilford Rice).

Left to celebrate her life are her mother, Rev. Annie R. Duck; lovely son, Sgt. Benson R. Ray, Jr. (1st Lt. LaShawnna Ray) of San Antonio, TX; devoted daughter, Miss Kayla D. Smoot; one granddaughter, Miss Addison O. Ray; three sisters, Santa Barbara Phelps, Katrina L. (Charles) Eldridge, and Sybil C. Phelps (Lee Clark) all of W-S, NC; two brothers, Colie L. Phelps of the city and Willie Duck, III of MD; two nephews, Kemphus (Iesha) Cuthrell and Jerrell Cuthrell of W-S, NC; two uncles, Richard E. (Alisha) Rice and Ernest Phelps; two aunts, Mrs. Ruth Oree and Mrs. Virginia (George) Howell; devoted friends, Michelle (Darryl) Dillard, Robin Jones, Rev. Sharon Isaiah, Faye Hairston, Shirley Samuels, Madelyn Taylor, and Simone Fisher; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church with Bishop Sheldon McCarter officiating and Elder Lamont Williams eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
