Born in New Britain, daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Rizauskas) Narcum, she graduated from New Britain High School, Class of 1956, and from Central Connecticut State College with degrees in Social Science, English, and Reading. She was employed as a Teacher, Grades 5-11, in the Windsor Locks, Coventry, and West Hartford School Systems. After retiring, she became a professional Genealogist as well as working in her community as a Planning & Zoning Commissioner, a member of the East Granby Board of Education, and the Democratic Registrar of Voters.
Virginia and her late husband, Thomas, were like two peas in a pod. They were best friends, soulmates, and particularly funny together, especially when telling a story, as each one would remember the specific details quite differently. She was a very loving Grandmother, always encouraged her grandchildren to do well in school, and was proud to be their personal tutor. She was extremely supportive of their endeavors and attended all of their events. They have an ache in their hearts with her passing
Virginia was a sports fanatic, and particularly loved the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. She was an avid reader and also loved to knit blankets and sweaters for her family.
Virginia is survived by her children, Karen Vezina of Windsor, and Stephen Howard of East Hartland; her beloved grandchildren, Nathaniel Vezina of Windsor, Emily Vezina of Windsor, Jessica Vezina, of the United States Army and currently stationed in Seoul, Korea, and Kaidy Vezina of Windsor; her sisters, Marian Abramowicz, and Patricia Pea and her husband Richard; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Joan Geraci.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, September 20, 2-4 p.m., at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, 11 a.m., in the Chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Tariffville.
