Funeral services for Janice Rowland will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Miracle Christian Center in Buffalo. Pastor Lloyd Lane will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Jewett Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday with the family present from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.

Mrs. Rowland passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at her residence in Teague.

She was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on August 21, 1950, and grew up in Lodge Grass, Montana where graduated from Lodge Grass High School with the class of 1968. She was well known in high school for being a cheerleader and barrel racer. After high school, she attended college in Wyoming for a year before moving to Texas with her family where she met her husband, Elvie Clardy. After twenty years of marriage, they divorced and Janice married Ron Rowland in 2004. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking. She was especially known for cooking her “Man Killer” brownies. Mrs, Rowland was also an avid reader. Janice was known as the “Peace keeper” and always had a smile and an uplifting word for everyone she encountered. She was a member of the Miracle Christian Center in Buffalo and was also a member of the Faith Chick’s Ministry.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Rowland of Teague; one son, Shayne Clardy & wife Sue of The Woodlands; two daughters, Sheryl Jowers & husband Shawn of Brownwood and Sherry Nash of Buffalo; two step-children, Jennifer Flores and David Brian Rowland both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Shayna Brown, Shaylee Clardy, Kasey Lucas, Alex Hersperger, Connor Clardy, Alley Jowers, Trista Sunkas, Jade Nash, and A. J. Nash; three great-grandchildren, Leighten Brown, Elissa Sunkas, and Aria Sunkas; three sisters, Verna Puryear & husband Ricky of Clyde, TX, Sharon Lopes of Streetman; and Paulieanna Morris & husband Tim of Buffalo; two sisters-in-law, Judy Fritts & husband Terry and Rita Eades; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends including a special friend, Cheryl (Bo) Gantt of Jewett.

Mrs. Rowland was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph & Pauline Mitchell; one brother, James Alex Mitchell; one sister, Patricia Lynn; and one granddaughter, Sierra Clardy.
