Barry John French, age 74, passed away on September 15, 2020.

Barry was born on May 3, 1946 in Southampton, England, the son of the late George French and Marie French. He left school in England at the age of 16 to begin a career at sea. His career included working on cruise ships including the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary and then the Cape Boats which sailed from Southampton to Cape Town. Eventually he attained the position of Hotel Officer and served as on various cruise ships including the Sagafjord and Queen Elizabeth (QE2). At the end of 1989 he met his second wife, Susan "Sue", while she was on her first cruise on the Sagafjord. Sue and Barry were married August 1990 and since Sue's maiden name was French it became known as the "French" wedding. Barry moved to the US but continued to work on the Sagfjord and eventually the QE2 until he left the sea in 1993, after accepting a position on land with the Medford Ford Company in Medford, NJ. Sue and Barry moved to Mantua, NJ in 1994 and then to Marlton, NJ in 2003. Barry retired from his position as Sales Manager of Medford Ford in 2011 but he continued his passion for grocery shopping and cooking delicious meals throughout his marriage. In 2013 Barry and Sue moved to Greensboro, NC. Barry also loved traveling back to England at least 2-3 times a year to see family and "mates" (friends).

Barry is survived by his wife Susan (French) French; his sister Audrey (French) Knott, brother, Michael French, and daughter Mandy (French) Owens of Southampton, England; three grandsons, Daniel Owens, Luke Owens, and Joshua Owens as well as five grandchildren who all live in Southampton, England.

Barry is predeceased by his father George French, mother Marie French and sister Jenny (French) Goodwin.
