Jim Parker, 79, of Slaton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020. Funeral services were Tuesday (Sept. 15) at Grace Lutheran in Slaton. Interment followed in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements were under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Jim was born on April 25, 1941 in Talihina, Okla. to Fred and Mary Jane Parker. He attended schools in Arkansas and Texas, including Roosevelt High School. He graduated from Draughon’s Business College and went to work for Self’s Furniture Store in Slaton. He married Linda Camden in Mt. Pleasant in 1964. He worked as a truck driver and later established his own trucking company. As his children got older, he retired from trucking and worked full time as a farmer and rancher, which he did for the remainder of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Malease Hill, Shelva Sue Moore and Ann Shannon; his brothers, Adrian, Dwight and Caral Parker; and his grandson, John Campbell. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Shelley Campbell and husband, Jim and Sally Wright and husband, Bradley; his son, Jacob Parker and wife, Kristine, all of Slaton; his grand-children, Tell Campbell and wife, Nicole, Ty Campbell, Levi Wright and wife, Kennedy, George Wright, Grace Parker and Mary Jo Parker; and his great-grandchildren, Reid, Kolbie, Morgan, Clara Ruth, William, Hunter, Balin and Tucker.
