Jack?s attestation papers states that he was a farmer, date of birth not recorded, Birmingham, England and his next-of-kin was Samuel Thomas Tubb, Mount Hebron, Kings County, New Brunswick. Description of Jack on these papers states he was 21 years oold, 5 feet 7 ? inches, chest measurement was 37 inches when girth was fully expanded and the range of expansion was 4 inches. Jack's complexion was dark, eyes brown and that there was a white scar on right and left cheek and a scar on the left side of neck.

While overseas during WWI, Jack married on February 11, 1919 at Chorley, Adlington, Lancaster, England to Clara Elizabeth Rothwell, daughter of Septimus William Rothwell. She was born about 1901 in Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire, England and she died June 7, 1986 in Sussex, Kings County, New Brunswick.
They had 2 daughters and 1 son.
