Janice Wilbur Potter, 57, of Troutville, died Friday, September 14, 2007. Born in Roanoke, May 9, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Flossie Vaden Wilbur and Maurice Henry Wilbur Jr. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School and National Business College and married William C. Potter IV, September 16, 1972. She worked for Appalachian Power and Webster Brick until 1977 when her first son, William C. Potter V. was born. Also surviving is a daughter, Rebecca Hope Potter and a son, Jonathan Maurice Potter, all of Troutville; sister, Carrol Rickman of Franklin County; mother-in-law, Mary H. Potter of Troutville; two sisters-in-law, and their husbands, Janice and Dick Copenhaver of Franklin County, and Nancy and Pete Adamson of Fincastle. Janice dedicated her life and love to her family. She was involved in 4-H lamb and cattle shows with Will, was an avid softball supporter with Becca, and provided food and support for Jon's wrestling and football teams. She loved to cook and sew and was an expert needlepoint and crochet artisan. She loved flora and fauna, especially the seashore, and was a lifelong member of Woodside Presbyterian Church and attended the bible study group, BSF, both in Roanoke. She loved to bowl, was a talented pianist, and during summers loved to keep score for the Botetourt County church league softball teams. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2007, at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville with the Rev. Bruce Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the League for Animal Protection, Fincastle or the Lighthouse Preservation Society or the Troutville and Fincastle Volunteer Rescue Squads. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rader Funeral Home.
