Daniel Orcutt, a laborer in the employ of the Neils Lumber company of Sauk Rapids, died in St. Raphael's hospital at 12:05 today as the result of injuries received in an accident while unloading a carload of logs in the company's yards this morning. Orcutt was 38 years of age and leaves a wife and five children.

The unfortunate man was literally crushed to death by the falling of a huge log upon him. Both legs were broken in several places, four ribs were fractured, his back broken in two places and a number of internal injuries suffered. From 9 o'clock until this noon he lingered in terrible agony. Not until a few minutes before death did he lose consciousness and displayed wonderful fortitude in his sufferings.

This morning with several laborers he was engaged in unloading a carload of logs in the lumber yards. The logs were being rolled from the top of a high carload into the river, when one of the largest became displaced, fell, and rolled upon the unfortunate man, reducing his body to a pulp. The bones of his legs and the ribs fairly protruded from his flesh and hemorrhages in all of the vital organs set in from the contusion of the body.

He was at once conveyed to the hospital in this city and everthing that medical assistance could do was done but to no avail. The widow and her children are prostrated with grief at the sad accident.
