POCATELLO – Paul Reese, 93, of Pocatello, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at his home.


He was born on February 27, 1914, to Perry and Clover M. (Van Allen) Rees in Gayville, South Dakota.

He was in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. He married Lois Ellis and they had two children, Richard and Rosetta. Lois preceded him in death. He then married Louella Ames and they had four children, Loretta, Francis, Perry and Peggy. She also preceded him in death. He then married Edith Rose Pannell Colwell on May 21, 1954, and together they had two children, Linda and Roseanna. Together Paul and Edith raised his, hers, and their children, making a large and happy family.

He drove the church bus for 25 years, was active in the Baptist Church, and also kept the maintenance of the church. He also worked for Garrett Freight lines and after 25 years of service there he retired in 1977. He enjoyed cars, carpentry work, Lawrence Welk. He loved dancing, country and gospel music. He loved horses, driving "fast", and he especially loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Edith Rose Rees, also their children, Richard (Dorel) Rees of California, Loretta (Paul) Newbold of Pocatello, son-in-law, Barney Skinner, Perry (Connie) Rees of Pocatello, Peggy Spraker of California, Linda S. (Monty) Edwards of Chubbuck, Roseanna P. (Bill) Holmquist of Pocatello, Jeanette (Kay) Baker of Chubbuck, Cheryl McNeal of Pocatello, L.N. "Rocky" (Carol) Colwell of Pocatello, Annie B. Colwell of Pocatello, and Lolita (Wes) Russell of Las Vegas; 71 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Arthur Colwell; daughters Rosetta Honeycutt, Francis Skinner; former wives, Lois Ellis and Louella Ames; 3 sisters, 1 brother, 2 grandsons and a daughter Maria.
