NORWALK-Earl Keene, 79, of Norwalk, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Floyd County, KY., and came to this area in 1994 from Allen, Ky.
Keene was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Martin, Ky., and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended Friends Church, Milan.
Survivors include his wife, Helen (nee Ratliff); sons Robert Jr. of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Ted of Georgetown, Ky.; stepsons Roger Carroll of Norwalk, Roy Carroll of Floyd County, Ky., and Russell Carroll of Dallas; daughters Sue and Michelle Keene of Frankfort, Ky.; stepdaughters Valerie Robinson of Willard, Sharol Carroll of Dallas and Sandy Carroll of Columbus; numerous grandchildren; brothers William Jr. of Plymouth and Herman of Willard; and sisters Shirley Coldwell of Bucyrus, Jesselene Holt of Mansfield and Rosie McGuire of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hallie (nee Justice) Keene.
Friends may call Monday at 6 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, where services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Newman Cemetery, Hi Hat, Ky.
