Dr. Karen Nolen Beene, 65, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020, at her home.

She was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on December 26, 1954, the daughter of the late Edwin Nolen and Joy Anderson Nolen, of Monroe, Louisiana.

After graduating from Ouachita High School, Karen attended Northeast Louisiana University, in Monroe, Louisiana, as a Pharmacy graduate, later graduating from Louisiana State University Medical School in Neurology. She is survived by her spouse, Dr. Stephen Michael Beene, daughter Stephanie Beene, step-daughter Rebekah Willis, son-in-law Eric Willis, two grandchildren, Luke and Lydia Willis, brother Jay Nolen, sister-in-law Patti Frost, and many loved and cherished family and friends.

Karen was beloved by her family and friends and known for her kind nature and giving spirit. The care and well being of her family, friends, and patients were always her first priority and one she attended to with unending love. Her thoughtfulness and devotion will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Southside Drive in Shreveport, Louisiana, at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Cemetery located at 5185 Swan Lake Road Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana, 71111. Officiating the ceremony will be Pat Day of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana, where Karen was a member. Sunday dress attire is appreciated.
