Joseph W. Long, 87, of Lewistown, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday September 14, 2020 at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home.
Born October 16, 1932 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Partner) Long.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth E. Long, on July 2, 2014, his son, Joseph M. Long, and siblings, Gene Long, Gerald Long, Betty Mitchell, and Ruth Pearson, and his son-in-law, Douglas C. King.
Joe is survived by his loving children, Joyce A. King, of Lewistown, Deana S. Kauffman and husband Jeffery, of Strasburg, VA, Daniel L. Long, and wife Dee, of Lewistown, and a daughter-in-law, Glenda Long, of Bellefonte; a sister, Thelma Haubrick, of Granville; Grandchildren, Ryan Kauffman and wife Jody, Andrea Fank and husband Josh, Allyson Ledbetter and husband Brandon, Nathan Koontz, Stephany Frock and husband Brian, and Stephen King and fiancé Morgan Lutz; and Great-Grandchildren, Jalee Bodtorf, Carter Fank, Charlotte Fank, Parker Ledbetter, Cole Kauffman, Carsten Fank, and Elsie Frock.
Joe was enlisted in the United States Army, serving in The Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he was employed at Warner-Lewis Buick for 47 years, and later at Mountain Country Motors.
He was an active member of the Lewistown Alliance Church, serving as a past board member, Sunday School Treasurer, and an usher. In his free time, Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing at Camp Peace, watching Penn State football, flying model airplanes, and repairing anything that needed fixed. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family.
A viewing will be held from 12-1:00 p.m. on Saturday September 19, 2020 at Lewistown Alliance Church, 50 Hudson Ave, Lewistown, with Pastors Neil Breneman, and John Looney to officiate. A private funeral service will follow.
Private interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the care of The Barr Funeral Home Inc. & Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
