John attended Livermore High School in Livermore, CA, and went on to join the US Navy. He was in the cooling industry and worked as a radiator designer for large machinery. John was quite a boating enthusiast, a Maritime Modeler, woodwork sculptor; enjoying drawing, painting, and gardening as well.
He married Madelynne Gardiner Thornton on September 8, 1962 in Long Beach California. During the course of his Navy work, he completed three tours to Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. He also served aboard the USS Prairie Ad 15, and the USS Cowell Dd 547. John served in the US NAVY from 1958-1962.
Survivors include his wife of 58 happy years to Madelynne Gardiner Thornton of Parker, CO, his sons, his grandchildren,, and great-grandchildren.
