V. Ilene Whitlatch, 96, of Tower Hill passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 in Hawthorne Inn, Shelbyville, IL. She was born June 30, 1924 in Shelby County, IL to the late Harry C. & Norma (Baker) McDonald. Ilene married Lester E. Whitlatch on May 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2018.
Ilene was a graduate of Westervelt High School, Class of 1942 and was a member of the Tower Hill Christian Church. She worked as an in-home childcare provider and was also a cook & pie baker for the Rosebud Café, Shelbyville Sale Barn and in local nursing homes. She enjoyed gardening, sewing & cooking.
Ilene is survived by her children: George (Kathy) Whitlatch, Antioch, IL; Dale (Karyn) Whitlatch, Breese, IL; Lois (Lynn) Laughlin, Tower Hill, IL; Lynne (Blair) Wagner, Paola, KS; daughter-in-law, Debby Whitlatch, Swansea, IL; grandchildren: Ryan (Andrea) Whitlatch, Aaron Whitlatch, Andy (Erin) Whitlatch, Angie (Adam) Wuebbels, Beth Ricciardi, Steve (Denelle) Whitlatch, Kristen Palm, Corrine Whitlatch, Elise (Barnabas) Omulokoli, Jeffrey Whitlatch, Sarah Laughlin, Marty Laughlin, Mandy (Don) Cawby, Michael (Miranda) Wagner; great grandchildren: Emma, Avery & Isabel Whitlatch; Addison & Jarett Wuebbels; Ava & Robert Joshua (RJ) Palm; Madilyn & Maddox Whitlatch; Malakai, Ezra & Phineas Whitlatch; Rilee Sphar, Joel & Grant Cawby; and siblings: Irene (Clarence) Schmitz, Oconee, IL; Mildred Reed, Arkansas and Ruby Hamilton, Maine. In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Fred Whitlatch; grandson, Timothy Whitlatch; siblings: Lyle McDonald, Delmar McDonald, Marion McDonald and Marvin McDonald.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
