Sandra “Sandie” J. Howard, age 77, of La Farge, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, after suffering a heart attack.

She was born March 30, 1943, in rural La Farge to the late John and Doris (Dorschied) Pesik. Due to her father’s employment with Dairyland Power, Sandie attended school in numerous places in Wisconsin before returning to La Farge.

It was on Main Street in La Farge where she met Thomas L. Howard. They were united in marriage on February 4, 1960, and began their family, raising four children.

Sandie worked at the IGA in La Farge and sold real estate for Don Potter Realty before co-owning and operating the La Farge Locker Plant. It was here that she worked alongside her husband Tom for nearly 30 years, making Harvey’s “Famous” Ring Bologna.

Sandie enjoyed her flower gardens and going to the casino a few times a year with family and friends, but her greatest pride and joy was spending time with family and taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Sandie is survived by her children: Tom Howard, Jr., Denise (Gordon) Nemec, Elizabeth Howard, and Kellie (Bruce) Dittner; five grandchildren: Stephanie (Matt) Fencl, Joshua Dittner, Bryant (Stacy) Nemec, Jacob (Beth) Dittner, Megan Dittner; and eight great-grandchildren: Evan, Carissa, Emma, Kolton, Carson, Sidney, Elly, and Taylor. Sandie is also survived by her siblings: Monty (Robert) Clark, Rick (Linda) Pesik, Steve (Maureen) Pesik and Paula (Sam) Stanek; two sisters-in-law Jan Howard and Deb Pesik; brother-in-law Bud Degner; special family friends Kristalee Frank and her daughter Valerie; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Sandie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her grandson Al Nemec; her brother John Pesik, Jr.; her brothers-in-law: Orval Howard and Don Potter; her sisters-in-law: Thelma Degner, Bonnie Potter and Peg Pesik.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, at the La Farge Free Methodist Church, 214 S. Cherry Street in La Farge. Pastor Mark Phillips will officiate. The service will be live streamed via Vosseteig Funeral Home's Facebook page.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service for all who are comfortable with entering the church. A drive-thru visitation will also be available to those wishing to respect social distancing guidelines.

Following the service, Sandie will be laid to rest at Bear Creek Cemetery. Coffee and dessert, Sandie’s favorite, will be served at the church afterward.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the La Farge Area Ambulance Service are appreciated.

Sandie’s family extends a sincere thank you to Bonita Dorschied for the years of love, care, and friendship she provided Sandie.
