Jeffrey Martin Speer was born on November 26, 1954 in Kansas City, MO to Joe and Kay Speer. Jeff was raised on a farm in Stuart, OK where he attended Stuart High School, graduating in 1973. After high school, Jeff studied at the University of Oklahoma earning a Bachelor's Degree and later went on to attend nursing school at Oklahoma City Community College and obtained an RN degree. He would go on to enjoy a long career in nursing before retiring from St. Anthony hospital in Oklahoma City.
Jeff had a lifelong love of music and was accomplished at playing several instruments, including his most favorite, the guitar. Jeff was an avid reader and always had an interesting story to share, as only he could tell it. One of Jeff's favorite places to spend time was at Eufaula Lake where he grew up fishing with his dad and brother. Jeff and his wife JoAnn had a house on the lake where they enjoyed spending time and making lifelong memories. In the last few years, Jeff and JoAnn started square dancing together, a hobby they both enjoyed, and we are all still in awe of the costumes that JoAnn got Jeff to wear. They met a lot of great friends through square dancing as well as being able to stay active physically.
Jeff leaves behind his loving wife, JoAnn (King) Speer, with whom he enjoyed a long and happy marriage. Jeff's two daughters, Ali Foster and Katie McDougal, and three grandchildren: Audrey Foster, Carsten McDougal, and Violet McDougal. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy (Hammontree) Mason, her husband Dale, and brother, Joe Speer and his wife, Lauren. Special cousins that Jeff grew up with are Steve Hammontree, wife Carol, and Marilyn (Hammontree) Pullum, husband, David. In addition, two son-in-laws, David Foster and Matt McDougal and countless other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jeff was loved by his family and will forever be in their hearts and memories.
His funeral services will be Wednesday, 09/09/2020 at 2:00PM at Primrose Funeral Service with burial to follow at Norman IOOF Cemetery.
