"DAVID GREEN IS SUMMONED
David J. Green, one of the well known businessmen of this city, who was stricken with paralysis while at work at his place of business on Third street last Friday, died Sunday afternoon. His condition was considered serious from the first and although given every care he did not improve.
With the demise of Mr. Green there is much sorrow expressed among friends in this city. He made many friends who admired him for his different good qualities.
He came here from Sacramento twenty-two years ago and was a cabinet maker by trade. At the time of his death he was conducting a shop on Third street.
Born in California, the late Mr. Green was aged 49 years. He was a son of the late Jay and Olive Green and a brother of Schuyler, Jermaine [sic-Germaine] and George Green of Bakersfield and Mrs. Minnie Nibblet [sic-Niblett] of San Francisco. In addition to the brothers and sister, he is survived by his widow [, Mrs. Bessie Gregg Green,] and a daughter, Miss Merle [sic-Myrle] Green.
The deceased was a citizen who took interest in any project that was for the benefit of the city, where he had made his home for so many years.
The sincere sympathy of friends is expressed for the bereaved family.
The funeral will take place Wednesday and the body will be taken to San Francisco for cremation. Brief services will be held at the home. The funeral will be under the direction of Jake Mount of the Blackburn parlors."

The records of Petaluma's Blackburn parlors, now Parent-Sorensen Mortuary, indicate that David's "Place of Burial" was Mount Olivet Crematory and that he was cremated on September 18, 1918. Neither Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael, Marin County, California, nor Mount Olivet Cemetery [now called Olivet Memorial Park] in Colma, San Mateo County, California, has a record of either the cremation or an interment. Since both his obituary and his funeral record state that he was cremated, it is assumed that he was, in fact, cremated; however, the final disposition of his ashes is unknown.

David's sister, Minnie Bessie Green, was born on January 28, 1879, in California and died on May 24, 1959, in San Joaquin County, California, as Minnie Bessie Niblett [California Death Index]. Minnie B. Green married Francis John Niblett, son of Frank J. Niblett and Ada Estella Reed, on December 7, 1911, in Marin County, California [familysearch.org].
