Willie Grace Kemp Cross

Mrs. Willie Grace Kemp cross, 89, of Winona, died Friday, April 13, 2001, in Athens, Ala. where she had made her home part time for the past six years and full time for the past two years.

Funeral services were held April 16 at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona with the Rev. Reidis Nash officiating and Oliver Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Cross was born on May 23, 1911 at Nations to Will Kemp and Caroline Chesteen Kemp and lived in Montgomery County all of her life. She was a member of Winona Baptist Temple and was retired from Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters Carol Cross Malone of Athens, Ala. and Pamela Cross Ricci of Limerick, Pa.; three sons, Barry Cross of Hernando, John Cross of Memphis and David Cross; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and 10 nieces and nephews.

Other survivors very special to her include granddaughter-in-law, Cynthia Malone and son-in-law Billy Malone of Athens, Ala. who helped care for her as her health failed and nephew and nieces, Holmes and Lynn Herring of Winona and Linda Hodges of French Camp who helped care for her in declining years.

Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by husband, Letau Cross, and sons, Donald and Douglas.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Anthony Malone of Athens, Dewayne Cross of Hernando, James Cross of Booneville, Phillip Cross of Grenada, Rodney Cross of Bowie, Md., Johnny Cross of Ft. Riley, Mo. and Dave Cross of Ackerman.

The family has suggested two memorials that were close to her heart, the Emmaus Community for her son Donald and the American Cancer Society for her son Douglas.
