Randy liked working with his hands and became a Printing Pressman early on. He first worked for Taylor Publishing and then moved on to the smaller presses where he finished his career. Randy was a good athlete and played baseball for Urbandale and Casa View Baptist Church in Dallas. He took up umpiring baseball and softball games for fun and was an avid sports watcher. He also liked to hunt, fish and play golf just to name a few.
His later years were simple, with a house in Haltom City, TX where his youngest 2 daughters and grandchildren lived with him. He had his Ford Truck and a boat which he was proud of, and spent his time working in the yard or helping a friend. He enjoyed going to the lake to fish or just relax. He liked taking the family out with him whether it was fishing, skiing or tubing and made good memories.
He had a massive stroke in December 2014 after surgery, he was left physically disabled and could only move his right arm with some rehabilitation. He could still eat and talk and kept his memory for the most part. He continued to keep up with sports and news. He referred to the nurses and aids at the nursing home as “his girls.” He will be missed by many that knew him.
His body will be cremated and ashes buried at a future date. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting a donation be made to the Mercy Fund of Church at the Cross so that we can continue to bless other families that are in need. www.churchatthecross.com under “Give” tab.
