John F. McDonald Claimed by Death

John F. McDonald, of 415 Blackman Street, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed residents of Wyoming Valley, died on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Death followed an operation in Mercy Hospital. Mr. McDonald had been in good health until he was stricken ill two weeks ago which necessitated his removal to the hospital.

Deceased was born in Ireland in 1854 and came to this country when a boy. He settled in Plymouth where he resided for 50 years. Being possessed of a pleasing personality Mr. McDonald earned the esteem of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances who will mourn his death. He came to this city to reside about ten years ago. Deceased was a blacksmith by trade.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: John L. and Leo P., executives of the Wyoming Supply Company; Mrs William V. Driscoll and Mrs. Thomas Finley both of Plymouth; Michael, Felix, and Catherine; also twenty grandchildren; and two cousins, Mrs. John Carey, and Mrs. Michael Caghen.

The funeral will be held from the family home, on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock with a requiem mass in St. Patrick's Church at 9:30. Interment will be in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery at Hanover.
