Carole was married to George C. Wilson on December 19, 1942, and they remained in Twelve Mile until moving to Muncie in 1962. She graduated from South Caston High School in 1962, alongside her son and future daughter-in-law. She received her Bachelor & Master degrees in education from Ball State University. Carole's 39-year teaching career included Union, Caston and Jay County high schools, along with substitute teaching in Muncie City Schools. She was a trained CASA volunteer in Delaware County and also obtained a real estate license.
Carole was a multitalented soul, helping George build and remodel homes. She was a master at drywall finishing, wallpapering, painting, designing, and even laying bricks! Her joys were square dancing, camping with family, sewing, reading, planting flowers and playing card games, including free cell. She continued her passion for education by donating her body to the IU Medical Donor Program.
Carole was a very active member of New Burlington UMC, teaching Sunday school, VBS and participating in numerous other activities, except the choir! She was very appreciative of her church family. Carole was known for her calm, compassionate and determined demeanor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers (Jack, Ray and Lee Stuber), one sister, Roxalena Boldry and two infant sons.
She is survived by a son, George (Mary) Wilson of Muncie, and three daughters, Sharron Snider and Bea Ayers of Muncie, Cheryl (Larry) Cole of Florida and special attentive friend, Gary Ayers of Muncie.
Carole was known as Grandma in the Woods to her 11 grand and step-grand children, 22 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at New Burlington UMC on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 1pm, Dennis Rush officiating.
