Gage Tyler Ashford-Morgan, 25, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at his home in Pittsburgh.

He was the son of Stephen and Jennifer Morgan Ashford.

Upon graduation from Meyers High School in 2013, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After completing basic training and combat training, he served as a Marine Corps cyber communications specialist at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

One of his proudest moments in uniform was receiving an invitation from President Barack Obama to serve as Honor Guard for the White House Arrival Ceremony honoring His Holiness Pope Francis.

He capitalized on his military training in civilian life, traveling the United States as a leader of a team on the forefront of developing and implementing a computerized system to centralize all military medical records.

Gage was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Morgan; and his maternal grandfather, Robert Steven Ashford.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his brother, Daniel Michael Ashford, Wilkes Barre; maternal grandfather William T. Morgan, Shavertown; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Inside attendance limits will be followed and masks will be required.

Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, and interment in St. Mary’s Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming, will be held privately.
