Surviving is his son Steve Hawkins.
He was the son of Wilfred and Mabel (Woodard) Hawkins.
Also preceded in death by his his brother Robert Hawkins.
He was a 1944 graduate of Athens High School, then he joined
the U.S. Navy during World War II and was deployed to the
Pacific USS LCS-128 ship as an Electrician and Gyro-Compass
expert. He was present at Iwo Jima. and was aboard the 1st
ship into Nagasaki to secure the area and provide humanitarian
aide. On his return to Athens Ohio he married his wife and
after a short time moved to Dunbar, West Virginia till after he
retired. He was a Master Electrician for Ostrin Electo. Then he
moved to Plano Texas to be with his son Steve.
Jagers and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral
arrangements. His obits were published in the Athens
Messenger.
