Lois Alene Lovett Cauter
August 7, 1930 to September 9, 2020
Born in Nocona, Texas on August 7, 1930 to parents Queen Victoria Waldie and Martin Luther Lovett, Lois Alene Lovett Cauter died from complications of the COVID-19 virus on September 9, 2020 in Pleasanton, California, just one month beyond her ninetieth birthday.
Lois grew up on the Lovett family farm surrounded by animals and numerous siblings as well - she was child number nine with sister Corene arriving five years later bringing the Lovett sibling total to ten brothers and sisters. Lois attended Prairie Valley High School in Nocona where she was acknowledged for both her academics as an Honor Roll student, and her work as Senior Reporter for The Bark - the Prairie Valley High School Newspaper. After graduating as Valedictorian of her class, Lois attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas for a period of time before departing for San Francisco, California in the early 1950's to begin a whole new chapter of her life. It was there that Lois met and eventually married Frank Joseph Cauter, her husband of 26 years.
Blessed with the births of James Martin Cauter in 1955 and Linda Marie Cauter (Dorcy) in 1959, Lois almost single-handedly supported and raised her two children. Her most demanding and accomplished role in life was as a strong, kind and generous mother. Working primarily as a Social Worker for Contra Costa County, Lois served both the public and her family with love, grace, and tremendous fortitude. She modeled and exemplified the importance of faith, good manners, moral values, and respect for all people.
Throughout her life, Lois enjoyed attending Church Services on Sunday mornings whenever her health permitted. Active in politics, Lois campaigned for John F. Kennedy for President in 1960, and for Ronald Reagan when he ran for Governor of California in 1966. She was also a member of The Republican Women's Club which offered social events and short travel excursions that were most enjoyable to her. Lois enjoyed singing songs of all genres - in the car and around the house. Her love of all music was enthusiastically conveyed, enriching and shaping the lives of her two children.
Lois Alene Lovett Cauter is survived by her son James Martin Cauter, daughter Linda Marie Dorcy; daughter-in-law Sylvia Kruse Cauter; son-in-law Daniel Dorcy; granddaughter Janelle Alene Dorcy, grandson Devan James Dorcy, grandson Jeffrey Kruse Cauter, and granddaughter Emily Kruse Cauter.
Lois is the final of her Lovett siblings to die - there will be quite a welcoming party for her upon arrival. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2020 at Nocona Cemetery, Pine Street, Nocona, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran World Relief (lwr.org), or Bread For The World (www.bread.org)
