NOTE:
Per (Sept 2020) communication with Wes Sherman, grgrandson of Agnes P Sherman:
- 1st saw the tombstone abt 1950 when playing in the woods by the cabin with his brother, Allen and another teenage boy who lived on the property (the latter suffered from impaired vision due to an old injury). The headstone appeared to be a flat rock, apprx 4 inches thick, 24 to 30 inches long, & abt 18 inches wide.
They brushed it off and saw that it read: Agnes Sherman, Wife of Francis.
“Mothered David, Ella, and Martha”
At this time they also saw a grave marker a few feet south of the Agnes stone which included "CSA," indicating it was a Civil War veteran. When visiting the old homestead again in about 1963, they realized the marker was not just a flat rock, but was a "manufactured" stone marker.
They tipped it up against a tree or bush & copied the inscription.
They returned again around 2005, and could not locate the stone.

- Byron Wesley Sherman’s grandfather, Edward Dailey Sherman was born it that cabin in 1848 (Oct 4).
