She was born Marie Bell Long to Frank and Bertha (Livengood) Long in Etna Green, Ind., on Jan. 13, 1929. Marie had moved to Florida in 2001, and before she passed, was receiving loving care in the Glen Ridge nursing facility in Sarasota where she enjoyed a family-like atmosphere.
Mrs. Jacobs is survived by a daughter, Connie (Scofield) Marcus of Sarasota; two granddaughters, Toni Simmons of Elkhart, and Trenee Hulsey; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Jacobs in 1989; her parents; and three brothers, Clarence Long, Carl Long, and her twin brother, Marion Ray Long.
She retired from CTS in Elkhart after a 40-year career, having enjoyed being a member of the CTS bowling league. During the same time, she owned and operated Maria's Beauty Salon on South Main Street in Elkhart for 37 years, previously having graduated from the House of James Beauty College. Another job she held was as a hostess, and later she invested in real estate and rental properties.
A private graveside service was at Prairie Street Cemetery, and Marie will be buried next to her mother's grave and others of her family
