Ralph Edward Manning 86 of Ramsey, MN died peacefully on Sunday, July 5th, 2020.
Ralph was born on July 10, 1933. He attended Marshall High School, studied at the Minnesota College of Business, was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1959. He continued his education and received his B.S. degree at the University of Minnesota.
Ralph was truly an entrepreneur during his life, taking on many challenges with his wife and children by his side. In 1979 he moved his family to Chattanooga, TN and purchased a Burger King franchise in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. With the help of his family, he proceeded to open 3 more Burger King restaurants, one in Calhoun, GA and two in Chattanooga, TN. He sold his restaurants in 1986 and moved with his family back to Shoreview, MN. He had a short stint of retirement before he decided in 1991 to open a Denny's franchise in Columbia Heights, MN. In 2000, he sold his Denny's franchise and made some real estate investments, but for the most part went on to enjoy retirement.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Eleanor and by his sister Betty (Ray) Carlson. He is survived by Evelyn, his beloved wife of 58 years; his children Scott (Ginger) , Edward, Brian (Christine), Chris (Laura), Lisa; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren; his brothers Dick (Gabi), Larry(Joyce), Ron (Eileen); many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Services were held September 11, 2020 at The Church of Epiphany, Coon Rapids, MN. Interment was held September 12 at the Finnish Apostolic Cemetery, Moe Township.
