Garrett Jones, 29, of Hutchinson, died September 7, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 11, 1991, in Moses Lake, Washington, to Shawn and Christi (Chadwell) Jones.

Garrett graduated from McGavock High School, Tennessee, in 2009. Following high school, he joined the Kansas Army National Guard, serving overseas twice. His time in the military gave him a passion for mental health and suicide prevention for veterans. Garrett was a corrections officer at Hutchinson Correctional Facility, where he served on SORT and SST. He loved gaming, fishing, guns, and his dog, Rocco. Garrett also enjoyed working out and spent much of his time at the gym. More than anything, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Garrett is survived by: mother, Christi Favela, and stepfather, Jose Favela, Buhler; brothers, Trevor Jones, Edwin Morgan, and Josiah Morgan, all of Hutchinson; grandmother, Lynn Chadwell, Wasilla, Alaska; grandfather, Mark (Laurie) Chadwell, Battleground, Washington; great-grandmother, Naomi Chadwell, Ephrata, Washington; best friend, Adam Janzen, Hutchinson; stepsisters, Tabitha (Joe) Morris, Hawaii, and Tamara Blum, Wichita; stepbrother, Joseph Favela, Hutchinson; stepfather, Shawn Morgan, Hutchinson; aunts and uncles, Shelly and Miles Erb, Hermitage, Tennessee, Keith and Katy Chadwell, Wasilla, Alaska, and Jeremy and Vanessa Chadwell, Wasilla, Alaska; two nieces; a nephew; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary. Military Honors will be conducted by the Kansas Army National Honor Guard and Last Call will be conducted by the Hutchinson Correctional Facility Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
