CONNER, James Elmo, 74, of Buchanan, died Thursday, July 31, 1997. He was retired from Nelson-Roanoke, and is survived by his wife, Blanche L. Conner; three sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Barbara Conner of Cloverdale, Bill and Diane Conner, and David E. and Rose Conner, all of Buchanan; two brothers, Henry Conner of Faber, Reggie Conner of Shawsville; five sisters, Mary Reynolds of Idaho, Betty Barrett, Helen Jones, both of Vinton, Juanita Gibson, Linda Byer, both of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Karen and Joe Lugar, Tania Conner, Kevin Conner; three half sisters, Meda Wiles, Weeta Beba, and Lella Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 1997, at the Lithia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Creech and the Rev. James Tinney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rader Funeral Home, Daleville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Buchanan Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 244, Buchanan, Va. or the Lithia United Methodist Church, Route 3, Box 140-H, Buchanan, Va.
