Harriett was born September 26, 1926 in Melvindale, Michigan to Ellsworth and Tressie Abbott Biggs.
She married James Ivan Johnson Sr. on May 29 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2000.
Surviving are her children J. I. Johnson Jr and wife L.A. of Mt Vernon, IL, Joyce of Woodbury, Minnesota, L. Johnson and wife K. of Brimfield, IL , Susan and husband Mark of Effingham, IL and Gayla and husband Michael of West Frankfort, IL. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. One grandchild, Nicole Humphrey House who preceded her in death in August of 2004. She is survived also by her sister, Mary Lou and husband George of Georgia and their family, also a sister Pearl, who died in infancy.
Harriett's life was dedicated to the care of her family and others as a wife, mother and Registered Nurse retiring from the VA Hospital in Marion, IL in 1991.
She was a member of the Thompsonville First Baptist Church where her strong faith and many friends there sustained her in her later years, and where she often lifted her beautiful voice in her favorite hymns.
A Private family service will be held Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM. at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia.
Interment in Little Springs Cemetery in Hamilton County.
