Roberta Ann Brown, age 85, of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Dorthea (Wilson) Scott, was born August 8, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed from this life on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at her home in Leon.

Until the age of five, her family lived in 35 different states. When she was five, they settled on a farm at High Point, Iowa. She graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1952. She then attended nurses training at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, graduating in 1955, with her RN degree. In early 1957, she met Henry “Hank” Brown on a blind date. They were married October 20, 1957, at the Corydon United Methodist Church in Corydon, Iowa. After living in St. Louis, Missouri, they moved to Leon in 1958, where she worked at the Decatur County Hospital. She later went to work at Westview Acres Care Center until her retirement in 2000.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing cards, volunteering with the hospital auxiliary, and spending time with her grandchildren. She and Hank were active members of Trinity Christian Church and enjoyed helping whenever they could.

Most importantly to Hank and Roberta was their family. They were blessed with three children, Shari Norman and husband, Arnold, of Leon, Iowa, Greg Brown and wife Geri of Plano, Texas, and Cindy Beacom and husband, Shane, of Osmond, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Ryan & Jessica Norman, Tyler & Lacy Norman, Kyle & Nichole “Nicki” Norman, Gabriella Brown, Gavin Brown, Colton Beacom, Alexis Beacom, and Hunter Beacom; nine great grandchildren, Riley, Chloe, Tiras, Korie, Tytan, Ellie, Asher, Kynzer, and Henlee; and other relatives and many, many friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; parents-in-law, Henry and Mary Belle Brown; and her husband of 59 years, Hank Brown.
