DECEMBER 9, 1935 – SEPTEMBER 9, 2020
Charles Conrad Dawson, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Methodist Richardson Hospital. “Charlie” as his dearest friends called him, was born on December 9, 1935, in Dawson Community in Van Zandt County, Texas, to Blanks Jefferson Dawson and Lottie Bell Pittmon.

Charlie graduated from Canton High School where he was active in Future Farmers of America (FFA), played on the football team, baseball team, was cheerleader and on the pep squad! He served in the United States Army as AAA Gun Crewman 1954 – 1956 where he received the “Good Conduct Medal”. Charlie received an “Honorable Discharge” and continued in the reserves until 1962. In 1968, he married Wanda Jean (Key) Westerman, his wife of 51 years. He was an active member of the Masonic lodge and was a Past Master of A C Garrett Lodge 1216. He loved fishing and hunting and was an excellent marksman – he could shoot the whisker off of a squirrel at 50 yards! He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing at the casinos, farming, visiting with friends, and dining out with family and friends. Charlie was a loving son, father, grandfather, and great grandfather – a man with a kind heart and caring nature. He was a loyal friend to all who knew him and went out of his way to share his garden bounty.

Charlie is survived by his four children, Teri Westerman, Vanessa Zacharias, Lynn Rickel, and Kyle Westerman, six grandchildren, Kris Westerman, Niki Westerman-Germain, Kasi Westerman, Chelsea Rickel, Katie Westerman, and Jett Westerman-German, and one great grandchild, Dawson Westerman.

Charlie loved people and made a deep friendship connection with all who met him. He will be remembered for his love of country and enthusiasm for living.
