Sandra Potter, age 71, of Marshalltown, died on Thursday, September 10th, at UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown.

Funeral services at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating.

Born on Christmas Day of 1948, she was the daughter of Russell and Doris Phillips. She graduated from Hubbard High School.

Sandra married two wonderful gentlemen who greeted her at heaven’s gates, John Benson who died in 1978, and James Potter who passed in 1984. She was devoted to her job at Nauman-Chase, then Nauman-Madsen, later Shomo-Madsen for many years. She dedicated her working career to the insurance profession for over 40 years right up to her passing.

Survivors include her son Scott Potter of Marshalltown; four grandchildren, Trent, Kegan, Carson, and Karlie; three great-grandchildren, Ariella, Amelia, and Zayden; stepbrother Denny (Marlene) and step-sister Peggy (Steve); and many other family and work colleagues.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; brother; parents; and two stepsons, Darrin and James.

A funeral service for Sandra Potter, 71, of Marshalltown, was held September 14, 2020, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. Sandra was laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown, IA.

Pallbearers were Keegan Potter, Trent Potter, Steve Heilskov, Larry Phillips, Denny Reece, and Steve Madsen.

Along with family and friends groups from Shomo Madsen Insurance and Stitch’n Bitch friends attended.

Mitchell Family Funeral Home was entrusted with the care of Sandra and her family.
