Mabel was the daughter of Albert and Carrie Elizabeth Bodholdt Peterson. She graduated from Providence High School after which she enrolled in nurses training at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City. She served in the United States Army from October 2, 1943 to January 24, 1946. She spent most of her nursing career in California. She returned to the Newell area in the 70's where she resided until her death.
