Casper Bittorf received a letter from his mother this morning, who is in San Jose, California, bringing the sad intelligence that his brother William had died at that place on August 21st. The young man was 21 years old, and lived in this city seventeen years, and for a long time worked in the carriage painting department at the Mitchell & Lewis Wagon works. Two years ago he went to California on account of failing health. He was well thought of by all who knew him.

Will Bittorf and Emil Moritz will arrive to-day from California to spend the holidays.
