Robert McGuire, 75 of the Gratton community in Tazewell, VA passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 in Winston Salem, NC. Born June 2, 1945 at Raysal, WV he was a son of the late Willie and Alafair McGuire. He attended Old Regular Baptist Churches in the surrounding area. Robert enjoyed being a husband, dad, grandfather, and brother. He worked in the mining industry ten years and was owner/operator of Black Kat Trucking of Oakwood, VA for 35 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Day; sisters in law, Mary Baker and Brenda Baker.
Those left to cherish his wonderful memories include his wife of fifty five years, Linda Sliger McGuire; sons, Bobby McGuire and wife, Patty and Kevin McGuire and Kelly Bandy all of Tazewell, VA; sisters, Emma Mullins, Myrtle Riffe, Brenda Lester and husband, Greg, Janice Belcher and husband, Ray all of Raysal, WV, Sharon Ball and fiancé, J.R. Stephenson of Wytheville, VA, Teresa King and companion, Sammy Belcher of Bland County, VA, and Jo Ann McGuire of Charleston, WV; brother, Jimmy McGuire and wife, Hettie of Raysal, WV; granddaughter, Megan Cordle and husband, Dune; great granddaughters, McKenzie and Riley of Claypool Hill, VA; sisters in law, Sandra Grizzel and husband, Joe of Princeton, WV, Patty Baker and husband, Bobby of Grundy, VA, and Christine Kendricks and husband, Junior of Raysal, WV; a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM with Elders Gary Estep, James Stacy, and Jimmy Amos officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia.
