Artie was a retiree of Carr Tool Company in Fairfield, where he had been a loyal employee for over 30 years. He also served as a minister for a number of years; first with Newell Church of God in Kentucky and then with the Lawrenceburg First Church of God.
An avid outdoorsman, if he wasn’t at work or church he could be found in a deer stand, kicking briars for rabbits, calling turkeys, walking through the woods looking for squirrels, running through the woods when the hounds were baying, setting lines for snapping turtles, gigging frogs, or wetting a fishing line. He also had one of the largest vegetable gardens in the area and canned much of his produce so he could enjoy the fruits of his labor through the winter months and share with family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Anderson; and a brother, James Privett. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Garnette; three children, Shawna (David) Colen, Jason (Liz) Privett, Linda (William) Cutter, all of Rising Sun; eight grandchildren, Katelyn, Hunter, Timmy, Lisa, Kara Jo, Maryella, Jacob, William; two great granddaughters, Crymsenne, Chandler; siblings, Sue Privett, Linda Privett, Leonard Privett, Glenna (Dwight) Davis; brother-in-law, Marty Anderson, all of Kentucky; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
