PAUL DAVID KENNEDY, 52 years of age, of Grundy, VA, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born December 11, 1967 in Richlands, Virginia, he was the son of the late James Richard, “Jr.” Kennedy and the late Minnie Jean (Thornsbury) Kennedy of Compton Mountain, VA. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his nephew, LCpl James Paul Stanley, his grandparents, Richard and Ida Kennedy and William Thornsbury and Tilda Viars.
Paul leaves behind his only child, Hannah Grace Kennedy of Radford, VA. He is also survived by his fiancé, Wilda Looney of Grundy, VA, two sisters; Wanda Ward of Raven, VA and Anita Stanley of Meadowview, VA and special Uncle, Vincent Viars and wife Nicole and family of Morgantown, WV and special Aunt, Diantha Viars of Johnson City, TN who grew up with him like a brother and sister.
He is also survived by three nephews, Ryan Mitchell and wife, Jodie, and their daughters Adalyn and Kinsley, Seth Mitchell and Travis Stanley and son Gaven, and Travis’s wife, Amanda. He also has a great niece, Kennedy Stanley of Hawaii. Paul also had a special little buddy, Tyson, who he enjoyed spending time with. Paul was a kind-hearted man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and go-cart riding. He also liked NASCAR, bluegrass music and spending time with his daughter, Hannah and her boyfriend, Rhys LaFon. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Hall in Grundy, VA, where Paul spent time rehabilitating. He enjoyed joking around and spending time with the residents and staff who treated him like family. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him
Funeral Services for PAUL DAVID KENNEDY will be conducted Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Noon at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Hobert Kennedy, Vincent Viars and Tim Lester officiating with burial to follow in the Goodman Cemetery on Buckeye Road, Jolo, WV.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
