Donna J. Cox, 77, of Quaker Valley Road, Alum Bank, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 as a result of an auto accident in Taylor Twp., Blair County.

Ms. Cox was born in Canonsburg, PA on May 18, 1943, daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret Vera (Brinkman) Cox.

Donna is survived by Brother- Richard husband of Janet Cox, Oakdale; Aunt-Beulah Devos; Uncle- William Stewart husband of Eleanor, Uncle Raymond Brinkman; Nephew- Jason husband of Christina, Coral Springs, FL; Great-nephew Jordan. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and Nephew- Eric Wayne Cox.

She attended Nyak College and Crown College in Minnesota where she earned her BS in Communications and later went on to earn her Masters from California University of PA.

Donna retired from Chestnut Ridge School District after 32 years of teaching. She was a member of Chestnut Ridge Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association and PSAR.

She was a former EMT for Chestnut Ridge Ambulance.

Donna was a member of Bedford Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Donna was an independent woman who touched the lives of many, she will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

A private viewing will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Pleasantville.

A Graveside Service at Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald, PA will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, September 14th with Pastor Steve Egbert officiating. Masks are suggested and we ask that you please practice social distancing.

Newspaper Article Published in the Bedford Gazette, Bedford, Pennsylvania on September 11, 2020, front page one, Retired Ridge teacher killed in Blair County crash---A retired Chestnut Ridge teacher was killed Tuesday evening in a crash in Taylor Township, Blair County. State police said Donna Jean Cox, 77, had pulled from Cross Cove Road onto Route 36 about 7:47 p.m. Police said Cox’s Ford Taurus was struck by a Ford Fusion driven by Jeremy Jay Hart, 40.
Police said Cox died at the scene. Hart sustained what police listed as a major injury, while a passenger in his car, Marisa Paige Grainda, 26, sustained moderate injuries.Police said the crash was investigated by the Troop G Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist unit, Assisted by Friendship Fire Department of Roaring Spring, AMED, and the Blair County Coroner’s Office.
Cox retired from the Chestnut Ridge School District after 32 years of teaching, and was a former emergency medical technician for Chestnut Ridge ambulance.
