Edith Luke Martin, 91, of Fairfield passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 7, 2020. She was born June 17, 1929, in Rocky Mount.

She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church and a loyal member of the Night Circle. Edith was a long-standing member of North Rockbridge Woman's Club, FCE, and Retired Teachers. After graduating from Madison College in 1951, she taught at Andrew Lewis High School, Fairfield and Rockbridge High schools. She retired in 1980 to care for her first grandchild.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, W.L. (Bud) Martin; two daughters, MaryLynn Brown of Fairfield (Ray) and Judy Gray of Harrisonburg (Stan); one son, James Lee Martin of Fairfield; six grandchildren, Kelly O'Connor (Jarromy), Kristen Brown, Kevin Brown (Kristi), Chris Gray, Katie Gray (Rob) and David Gray; five great-grandchildren; and her favorite companion, her cat, Rocco.

The family extends special thanks to Edith's wonderful caregiver, Missy Noel and Rockbridge Area Hospice.

A private family graveside service at the New Providence Presbyterian Church cemetery is planned.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rokbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
