Vera Mae Walker,93, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 14, 2020 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa Iowa with Pastor Craig Bock officiating. (Social distancing measures must be followed- Family requests attendees to bring and wear masks.) Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Vera Mae was born August 12, 1927 in the Loess Hills near Moorhead, Iowa. She was the fourth child of four to Magnus and Anna Thogersen. Vera grew up in Mann Hollow where she attended Mann Country School.

Vera Mae and Robert Glen Walker were married March 30, 1947 in Blencoe, Iowa at the Blencoe United Church of Christ. Seven children were born to this union: Cheryl Christine, Clinton Robert, Ronald Glen, Bradly Lee, Kevin Anthony, Mark Allen, and Charlene Ruth.

Vera was employed at the Onawa Library and also worked as a cashier for many years.

She loved to ride horses, visit good friends, music, singing with the choir and solos, reading, and traveling. In 2002 Vera traveled to Denmark to visit the birth place of her parents.

Vera was a member of the Blencoe United Church of Christ, Blencoe, Iowa. She was active in her church and taught Sunday School for many years. Vera was president of the women fellowship, president of legion auxiliary, a leader in 4-H, and a member of the book club.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Green of Onawa, Iowa and Charlene Walker (finance David Deen) of Onawa, Iowa; three sons, Bradly Walker of Blencoe, Iowa, Kevin (Sandra) Walker of Sloan, Iowa, and Mark Walker of Blencoe, Iowa; grandchildren, Renae (Ben) Sweeten of Kansas City, Missouri, Rhonda Leib of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bret Walker of Trail, Oregon, Clint (Amy) Walker of Turin, Iowa, Tracy (Trevor) Miller of Onawa, Iowa, Ashley Walker (Angel Franco) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Quentin (Tiffany) Carritt of Creston, Iowa, Jason (Apryl) Carritt of Springfield, Florida, Joseph Dean of Onawa, Iowa, and Brianna (Kyle LaBarg) Dean of Sloan, Iowa, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Magnus and Anna Thogersen; her husband, Robert Glen Walker; two brothers, Chris and Edger; one sister, Eva; two sons, Clinton Robert, and Ronald Glen; and one grandson, Kurt Walker.
