Born in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late George and Sally Smith. Her husband was the late Robert O. Ford, Jr. She was a faithful member of Rose Chapel Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Sisterhood, the Ladies Aid Club, the Usher Board, the Missionary Circle, and the Gospel Chorus.
She is survived by seven children and their spouses. Reverend Johnny Ford and his wife, Shirley, Robert O. Ford, III and his wife, Grace, all of Lynchburg, Charles Ford and his wife, Gwendolyn of Thurmont, Md., Ms. Lucille Ford of Reston, Mrs. Constance Jasper and her husband, Aubrey of Washington D.C., Mrs. Julia Baskerville and her husband Andre of Douglasville, GA and Ms. Darlene Ford of Fairfax, one sister, Reverend Elizabeth Beverly; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
