Mayme Pearl (Bell) Ellis Brown was born January 18, 1927 at the home of her grandparents, Jack and Eva (Pate) Bell, in Flo, Texas. Her parents were William Ernest and Mary Adeline “Lina” (Johnson) Bell. Mayme died September 2, 2020 in Centerville, Texas.

Mayme grew up in Leon County, and she attended school in Flo and Centerville. Throughout her life, Mayme had a variety of hobbies including playing cards, 42, sewing, carving wood, painting, crocheting, and traveling. Her home in Centerville served as the gathering place for the Bell family since 1950. She loved her family, and nothing pleased her more than having a house full of her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, children, and grandchildren on weekends and holidays.

Although she lived most of her life in Centerville, she also lived for brief periods of time in Mineral Wells, Mesquite, Abilene, Belton, San Antonio, and Livingston.

Mayme was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John F. “Bunch” Ellis; husband, Lee Brown; son, Jimmy Wayne Ellis; son, Johnny Frank Ellis; daughter, Sandra Joyce Gamble; granddaughter, Belinda Gail Boren; brothers, Wendell, Weldon, Frank, Cecil, Wallace Ray, and Roy; and sister, Eva Ruth Roccaforte.

Mayme is survived by daughter, Deneau Duck (Mac) of Centerville; daughter-in-law, Diane Ellis of Centerville; brother, Jerry Lynn Bell (Alice) of Leona; sister, Mary Jo McMillan of Centerville; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; nine great, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mayme was a member of the Oakwood Church of Christ. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Cemetery, east of Centerville. A memorial honoring Mayme will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Beaver Dam Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oakwood Church of Christ, P.O. Box 322, Oakwood, Texas 75855.
