Cindy Kaye Gines Wood, 62, of Stansbury Park, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 5th at her home. She was born April 18, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah the second of 4 daughters to Ecco Sweat Gines and Russell Alies Gines she grew up in Kearns. She graduated from Kearns High School where she was an excellent student, a member of the seminary council and the Madrigal Choir. She had the voice of an angel and was asked to sing for sacred occasions all throughout her life. After high school she attended BYU. On October 8, 1977 she married James Ronald Wood for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1983, they began their family by adopting Cameron James. She was excited to be a mom at last. Michele Alies joined the family in 1987 and finally Janelle Kaylee in 1996 to make their family complete. She considered adoption one of her greatest blessings and frequently supported others in their own adoption process.

Cindy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She devoted herself completely in every calling the Lord extended to her. She served as President of the Primary, Young Women’s, and Relief Society organizations of the church. Most recently, she felt blessed to be called on a mission with Ron as a Service Missionary on Temple Square. She shared her vast musical talent by singing with the children, directing the choir, playing the piano and guitar. Music brought her great joy and was an important part of her life.

She excelled in arts and crafts, making her home a lovely place both physical and emotionally. The love that was felt in her home emulated Cindy's deep love of the Savior. Creating gifts and treats for her grandkids made every holiday special for them. She would prepare for family gatherings weeks in advance. Birthdays for the grandkids meant one on one time with grandma and grandpa usually including a meal and shopping for a gift.

She and Ron loved to travel. Together they visited 13 countries and 21 states. Yellowstone and Jackson Hole were favorite spots, and they visited one or the other what seemed like every week. Together they found joy in exploring the beauty of the Earth. Their travel and passion for photography gave them an extensive collection of photos from around the world.

Cindy's life focus on service was even apparent in her career as a realtor. She would often give of her own time and talents to get properties in the best possible shape for a great sale. She was truly a selfless person. Those who spent time with her would leave with a clearer understanding of Christlike charity and kindness. She would always put her own comfort and desires aside to make all those around her happy. She could often be seen patiently waiting in a clinic or hospital foyer because someone needed a ride and a friend. She was a devoted daughter. She had many of her mother’s best qualities and they were very close. Finding time to spend with her sisters was a great joy for the three of them.

Family meant everything to Cindy and Cindy meant everything to her family. Her departure from this life brings immense sorrow to the hearts of those who knew her, but her generosity, selflessness, and pure love of the Savior fill those same hearts with hope of a peaceful reunification in the world to come.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister- Sheila Ann, and Grandson - Benson. Survived by her husband Ron, children; Cam (Lacee), Michele (Ryan), Janelle (Daniel), and grandchildren: KateLyne, Kenzie, Tanner, Bria, Cohen, Denver, Ian, Lincoln, Jace, Ike, Dawson, Deklan, and Elsie.

Viewing will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Chapel. 390 Village Boulevard, Stansbury Park, UT 84074.
