Obituary

Mr. Ricky Dale Howard passed away Monday, September 7, 2020. He was born in Memphis and was raised in the Oak Grove Community. As a child, Ricky was a typical "Dennis the menace." He will be remembered as a people person as he was outgoing, never met a stranger, and enjoyed being around people. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His favorite pastime was being with and doing anything for his grandchildren, as well as, working on or driving his antique truck. He was one was who was constantly on his feet, his work required standing and at the many activities of his children and grandchildren, he rarely was known to sit down.
He was a member of the Holly Grove Cumberland Presbyterian (CP) Church and loved the community and his family and many friends. After graduating from Covington High School, he was employed at Internation Harvester where he served as union steward until it closed. After another job loss due to closure, he decided to take control of his destiny and established his own business, Howard's Cabinets. He had many pleased and satisfied customers throughout the years in the surrounding areas. Ricky enjoyed the challenges and was proud of the services he provided to many who would become his friends.
Preceding Ricky in death are his son, Justin Ryan Howard; his father, L. A. Howard, Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Randy Delashmit.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Melba Delashmit Howard; daughter, Jenna Lee Shelton (Brandon); son, Jason Cody Howard (Melissa); mother, Jean Cody Howard; brother, Tim Howard (Jackie); and aunt, Sherry Cody. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody and Jade Howard and Adin and Sam Shelton; and by his nephew, Elijah Howard.
The family will receive friends and family at Maley-Yabrough Funeral Home on Thursday, September 10, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM. Interment will take place in Indian Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any remembrances be made to the Holly Grove CP Church or the charity of their choice.
The family deeply appreciates the love, support, comfort, prayers, and words of encouragement shown by other family members, friends, and business friends during Ricky's brief illness and their time of great loss.
