He was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Hartford, son of Ernest and Adella (Luebke) Lillge. During World War II, he wanted to do his part so he joined the Navy on Jan. 2, 1945. He served in the Mediterranean, Korea and Vietnam campaigns and retired with a rating of GMGC. The next step of his journey brought him back to Wisconsin where he owned and operated an advertising business, Ocono-mowoc Sign Company, for many years.

Bob married Della "Dell" Thamke and they were blessed with two loving children, Robert Lillge Jr. (Billie Sue) of Ledyard, Conn., and Gail (Larry) Gaugert of Watertown.

The Lillges moved to Orlando in 1978 and he worked at the Navy Exchange for 23 years. He was named Employee of the Year at the Florida Exchange in 1988, coming in second on a national level.

He is survived by his wife, Dell; his children; two grandchildren, Patrick Lillge of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Jessica Lillge of Ledyard; sisters, Irene (Frank) Matz of Waukesha, Sue Duchin of Dousman and Leona Schlecht of Madison; two brothers, Gordon (Arline) of Jefferson and David (Eileen) of Watertown; a brother-in-law, Joe (Irma) Thamke of Sullivan; a sister-in-law, Thelma Thamke of Center-ville, Iowa; many nephews and nieces, dear friends and cousins.

Bob will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown, and per Lillge's wishes, he will be buried at sea with full United States Navy honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
